- I am a ceramic artist. My primary interest lies in wood-fired natural ash glaze work. I designed and built my 27 foot long anagama (tube-chambered kiln) in the forest near the rural village of Florenceville, New Brunswick, in 1997. The majority of my pieces are fired for 6-12 days without the use of chemical glazes--the colour and texture of my natural ash work is a result of the melted ash that is washed over the pots by flame during the extensive firings. When the temperature in the kiln reaches 1300 degrees celcius, the ash melts to create an incredibly unique and beautiful visual landscape. My work is shown in several galleries in eastern Canada, and my sculptural vessel "cut-collar vase" was recently purchased by the Beaverbrook Gallery, Fredericton, for their permanent collection. I also make a line of functional electric-fired glaze work, ideal for everyday use. I live with my wife Yolande, also a potter, and our son, Horus Francis Clark, in rural New Brunswick.
